American Way
03:13
|
|||
I see mothers crying.
I fear justice dying.
I hear people trying
To justify atrocities that they know hate is driving.
I see the red and blue;
Both teams are lying to you.
That much I know is true
It constantly is proven but the masses don’t know what to do.
It’s time for change, but we’re too afraid,
So we just complain the American way!
And place the blame on those getting maimed,
While we all pray, "It will all be okay!"
It’s the American way.
I see a man take a knee
To take a stand against bigotry
I hear the ignorant start to scream,
“You're problem ain’t a problem, 'cause your problem ain't affecting me!"
I see the blood in the news;
Shots fired from hundreds of fools,
In the streets, and even the schools,
But solutions are a problem for the weak who love their murder tools
It’s time for change, but we’re too afraid
So we just complain the American way
And place the blame on those getting maimed
While we all pray, "It will all be okay!"
it’s the American way.

Monster's Lair
03:51
|
|||
A bump in the dark when it’s late at night,
A little boy gone when they found his bike.
A mother asks why but no one knows.
They tell her he’s gone and the case is closed.
Sitting in her tears when she hears the phone,
A little boy’s voice but he’s not alone.
“Mama won’t you get me, ‘cause I’m really scared
I’m cold and I’m hiding in the monster’s lair.”
People call her crazy but she just don’t care.
They don’t believe that a monster’s there.
She wants to scream but they’ll all just stare.
Show her the way to the monster’s lair!
Show her the way to the monster’s lair!
Lights start to flicker as they guide her to
A hole in the wall and she climbs right through.
It’s dark inside but her mission’s clear:
Love is a light and it shines through fear.
She starts to run but she’s not sure where.
High on alert with the monster there.
She might not live but she still don’t care.
Show her the way to the monster’s lair!
Show her the way to the monster’s lair!
She sees her boy in the black despair.
Chasing her now is the monster there,
Starting to charge but she’s still not scared.
She is a bear in the monster’s lair!
She is a bear in the monster’s lair!
She is a bear in the monster’s lair!
Her cub’s on the ground and he needs some air.
She picks him up while the monster stares.
She screams, “Back away, we’re both not scared!”
She’s taking her boy from the monster’s lair.

Damn Sure
05:25
|
|||
Every place that I can take you
Is a place I wanna be.
Every photo that you pose for
Is one I want to see
Every day that I can kiss you
Is a day worth fighting for.
Every time that I miss you,
I’m so damn sure.
You are the one that I can’t let go.
Run. If you don’t want to hold.
This hand for the rest of your life
‘Cause I won’t let go.
Every dinner that you cook me,
Makes me wish that I cooked more.
And the fact it makes you happy,
Makes me so damn sure.
You are the one that I can’t let go.
Run. If you don’t want to hold.
This hand for the rest of your life
‘Cause I won’t let go.
I need you to know,
You won’t be alone.
I’m down grow old.
Every time that we argue
Only makes me love you more.
When your frown becomes a smile
I’m so damn sure.
You are the one that I can’t let go.
Run. If you don’t want to hold.
This hand for the rest of your life
‘Cause I won’t let go.

Follow
02:19
|
|||
I look at you everyday
With your body on display
In pictures of mirror shots
That you took 'cause you know you’re hot.
I’m glued to your Instagram
I scroll through your Twitter spam
I read through Facebook page,
And every single status update.
I got a dream in my head, and it’s you in my bed, so I follow you baby!
I got me a wife at home, but she just don’t know how much you really need me.
I hope that you’re looking back
Right through the looking glass
And notice me on your screen
Staring at you endlessly
I don’t know what I can do
To get more response from you.
I liked all your photos twice,
And told the haters to be nice
I got a dream in my head, and it’s you in my bed, so I follow you, baby!
I got me two kids at home, but I’ll make them go wherever you need me.
Yes I know that chances of us making it are so slim (so slim!)
Yes, I know, there’s thousands that are wishing you were with him. (With him!)
But I don’t care what they say
You’re worth the time I spent today
Clicking my whole life away!
I got a dream in my head, and it’s you in my bed, so I follow you, baby!
I got you up on my phone, I follow you on the go, I hope one day you’re with me!

See Through You
02:57
|
|||
You're a fox in everybody's hen house
You're a liar and a bully with a big mouth.
I know you, I know you!
Everyday a fair and balanced tirade
Aimed at babies who are thirsty for the Kool-aid
I know you, I know you!
I know you don't believe a word you say.
You know you only say it 'cause you're paid.
We feel the damage you do everyday.
I see through, I see through you!
You're told to blame everyone who disagrees,
You scream and shout to brainwash entertainingly
I know you, I know you!
You sold your soul to make it on the little screen,
You count your cash to compensate for dignity.
I know you, I know you!
I know you don't believe a word you say.
You know you only say it 'cause you're paid.
We feel the damage you do everyday.
I see through, I see through you!

2 AM
03:48
|
|||
I’m staring as your lips move through the sound
Of the music and the lively crowd
I’m nodding to pretend to understand
Every other word I think you said.
But please don’t expect me to know
The exact words that you chose.
I think I’m fallin’ in love!
No, I don’t remember your name
The alcohol is who you have to blame.
I’m sorry, I swear, I really am.
But what did you expect at 2 am?
Now you’re mad, and I don’t understand
Why it really matters in the end.
Your face is what I really need to see.
To engrave you in my memory.
So why won’t you just let me look at you?
Tonight, it is all I can do.
I think I’m fallin’ in love!
No, I don’t remember your name
The alcohol is who you have to blame.
I’m sorry, I swear, I really am.
But what did you expect at 2 am?

Emergency Song
03:13
|
|||
We’ve been asleep since we’ve been chasing the dream
But now we’re waking and it’s hard not to scream
at such a broken machine.
I wanna fix it, but I just don’t know how. What’s this about?
I don’t know, I don’t know, I don’t know!
This ain’t a test, it’s an emergency song.
We’re under siege and it’s becoming the law.
We gotta rise up or a nation will fall.
Now you know, now you know, now you know.
We’ve all been marching to a beat of a drum
As it’s been beating all the poor and the dumb
But now a crisis has come
For anybody with dissent on their tongue for the new kingdom come.
Time to roll, time to roll, time to roll.
This ain’t a test, it’s an emergency song.
We’re under siege and it’s becoming the law
We gotta rise up or a nation will fall.
Now you know, now you know, now you know.
The state is degrading the way we live
Frustrated its wasted all that we give.
Everytime they say that they’re making it great
Everybody cheers like they’re gonna be saved.
Only to be met with a wave of complaints
Now it’s time to march for a new kind of change.
This ain’t a test, it’s an emergency song.
We’re under siege and it’s becoming the law.
We gotta rise up or a nation will fall
Because the system is flawed.
Now you know, now you know, now you know.
Now you know, now you know, now you know.
Now you know, now you know, now you know.

You say I don’t owe you a thing,
But I know that you’re wrong.
You told me to sing when I wrote my first songs
You watched me on stage and I watched you sing along.
So I owe you this thing.
Though I could write it down,
I’d rather sing, belt it out loud
Because you need to hear how you made me feel proud.
You told me to sing, you told me to sing,
When nobody else did, you listened in.
You told me to sing, you told me to sing…
So, I’ll sing for you now.
You say I don’t owe you a thing,
But I know that’s not true.
You’ve been a good friend, I am who I am,
Because I was lucky enough to know you.
So I owe you this thing,
A song of your own
I want you to sing when you think you’re alone
When you’re down in the dumps then I need you to know.
You told me to sing, you told me to sing,
And that ain’t no small thing, it meant everything.
You told me to sing, you told me to sing…
So, I’ll sing for you now.
You told me to sing, you told me to sing,
When nobody else did, you listened in.
You told me to sing, you told me to sing…
So, I’ll sing for you now.

She Knows
03:10
|
|||
Everyday she's singing at the top of her lungs
She always tries to smile when they toss her a buck.
She swears she's gonna make it if she waits long enough
Yeah she knows, yeah she knows.
The looks of satisfaction while they're watching her play,
Is all she really needs to get her head through the day,
But she's never gonna make it if she never gets paid
That she knows, yeah she knows.
Then she goes home and she's not so sure anymore.
When she's alone, she's ashamed that she's so insecure.
Everyday she wakes up just to do it again,
She knows if she don't do it, she's committing a sin.
If God gave her a talent then he wants her to win
Yeah she knows, yeah she knows.
She catches all the eyeballs on her skin and her lips
She knows it's an advantage to be pretty and hip,
But she's in it for the music not the likes on her pics
That she knows, yeah, she knows.
Then she goes home and she's not so sure anymore.
When she's alone she's ashamed that she's so insecure.
She's gonna cry through the worst frustration,
Day in, day out until vindicated
She's gonna try 'til she just can't take it,
She made it this far so she can make it.
She's gotta know.
She's gotta know.

Love
04:39
|
|||
I got a feeling that I really can’t explain
It starts inside my gut and moves up to my brain
I feel it in my hands and in your little toes
With every pulse that beats, our connection grows
And I hope you know…
I won’t let go
So you won’t know
What it is like to wander this world all alone
I’ll always be there, or at least be on the phone
I won’t give up
If you mess up
I promise I will always try to understand
Because love is all that matters in the end
Because love is all that matters in the end
I’d drive a thousand a miles to make sure you’re alright
I’d die a thousand deaths, just to save your life
You couldn’t stop me even if you wanted to
I’d never let you leave this Earth before I do
And I hope you know…
I won’t let go
So you won’t know
What it is like to wander this world all alone
I’ll always be there, or at least be on the phone
I won’t give up
If you mess up
I promise I will always try to understand
Because love is all that matters in the end
Because love is all that matters in the end
